From Aisles to Vaults: Map Knowledge Is Part of a Security Guard's Tool Kit
Kroger operates under about 20 regional banners including 2700 stores, so the map above covers the whole family, not just stores with "Kroger" on the sign.
A few things worth knowing about the footprint (roughly 36 states + DC):
- Core Kroger banner: Ohio (its home state, and largest single market), Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, and parts of the South.
- West Coast: Ralphs and Food 4 Less/Foods Co in California, QFC and Fred Meyer in Washington/Oregon (Fred Meyer also reaches Idaho and Alaska).
- Mountain West/Southwest: Smith's (Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana), Fry's (Arizona), King Soopers and City Market (Colorado, Wyoming).
- Midwest: Dillons (Kansas), Baker's (Nebraska, Iowa), Gerbes (Missouri), Mariano's (Illinois), Pick 'n Save/Metro Market (Wisconsin).
- East Coast: Harris Teeter, spanning North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Delaware, Maryland, and DC.
Notably, four of Kroger's biggest markets by store count; California, North Carolina, Washington, and Virginia have zero stores under the actual "Kroger" name; they're entirely served by regional banners like Ralphs, Harris Teeter, Fred Meyer, and QFC.
